Now that the poker rooms are opening up tomorrow I would like to see some reviews/trip reports.  I assume many of us will be attending.  Share your experiences with the Mountaineer Poker Room here.

Stopped at the mountaineer tonight and played 2-4 limit for about 3 hours. First dealers was ok the rest was terrible. the 3rd dealers was so terrible. the table had to tell the dealer on every hand what to do. I had to play a bog Blind twice becuase of a dealer error. a player return to the table nd missed the bog blind. No one at the table would back me. So it was the dealers word. Another hand a there was 3 people in play. one guy folded and the dealer shoved the chips to a player and mucked his hand and the other person says hey I am in the hand. took 15 minutes to sort that mess out.

however there is no wait to get to a table. and the floor people remind the dealers to correct the computers on the table. dealers were friendy but dont thnk they was trained all that well. Maybe becuase it was sunday night the best dealers wasnt working. I will be returning  friday to see if the dealers are better.

hardly any TV screens in the poker room. So if you are waiting to watch a game or something unless you get lucky what table you play most likely you will be out of luck.

also the poker room is non smoking. however the chain smokers go right to the rail and the smoke just rolls into the poker room.

the poker room is not in the casino and is locate at the track. for me i dont like this becuase i feel there is better food at the casino. I havent ate there yet but did years ago when i did some horse racing betting. Also feel mountaineer messed up because I think they would get more traffic if it was located in the casino.

might have been a bad night but I feel the players was a lot ruder. one lady even called another player a dickhead, floored was called, then in her explanation she called the floorman a dousche.

This friday I will be returning and will give a review if it improves. if it dont, as soon as wheeling Island gets the wait time for a table better, I will be traveling 30 minutes more to goto that poker room.

spent friday night at mountaineer. I was there from 5:00-11:30pm. The dealers ws a lot better. most was a little slow. However you can buy chips at the table but the recount of the dealer chips when they change dealers was really slow. I think in overall in time this will be erased.

The smoking moved from the rail to the hallway. the smoke still poured in the poker room. what doesnt make sense there is an easy door to go outside. Clothes smelled like smoke when I got home. Hopefully this will be resolved. Alot of people were complaining about it.

At 11:00pm the tables were copletely full and only 25 players waiting on the 2-4 tables. One guy said he only had an hour wait at 11:00pm

Played saturday night at moutaineer. arrived at the poker room about 6:00pm. I played my usually 2-4 limit. after 2 hours I took a break and grab something to eat. return to the poker room to get back in the 2-4 limit game and was 14 on the list at 9pm. I was seated about 20 minutes later.

talk to the lady at the desk about comps. at a 2-4 table I will be getting 40 points per hour. what you can get for the 40 points she really didnt exactly tell me.

RUMOUR ON THE NET.

from the www.tomkatpoker.com forums (they are a poker group from the youngstown area) they have figure out you can spend a $1.00 when you receive 400 points. In short you get .10 for every hour you stay at the table.

I think in Alantic city the comps for a 2-4 limit table was .25 an hour.

does anyone know what wheeling island comp rate is?

also a special note.

they started a 10-25 NL game that saturday night. buyin was $3000. Got to see everyone buyin and before they really got started.

When i lefts at midnight about half the players was at the beginning. and the table was still full at 10 players. one guy fromt he chip colors i know about. ok at this table i was only sure of one color green are $25. on just the green chips I counted about $15,000. the rest of the chips i have no idea whatthe values was. there was a pink/black chip. and i think a yellow and black (not sure about the black color)

it was nice being on the rail and i could watch this game if i wanted to. not many high limits areas you can do this but it is nice to be able to do this.

on watchign the game . The rake was every player had to pay $8 every half hour.

was at mountaineer this last fri and sat. the poker room is starting to get more popular and the wait time for a table is increasing.

However when they call your name you dont report to the desk you have to see the floor to get a table. what is bad the desk doesnt know if the people that they just called is still there.

I was waiting an 1-1/2 firday night while watching a 2-4 game that 3 seats open for the whole time. they never got anyone to sit in the empty seats but they keep calling people.

when i was seated twice at the table, they keep calling my name about 45 minutes later.

as of Friday Nov 30 there is no smoking in the halls or on the rail in the poker room.. WOOOHOO!!!  This has made a big difference in the air quality.

Also they have really got the computerized waiting list mastered now.  when they call your name your name starts flashing. they wait a little bit then they clear the names that was called.

NOTE:  rumour on the net is that mountaineer is going to add tables when they start the tournaments. Suppose to go from 37 to 50 tables.

from the www.tomkatpoker.com forums

Mountaineer tournaments will be $75 buyins with $20 house rake and $5 dealer payment. So its a 75% payout or 25% rake.

mountaineer has made some major changes in their tournaments.

in march they will be doubling all the starting chip stacks, also they have an opion $5 going to the dealer and you get 2000 more in starting chips.

and the plus side with these changes they havent change the blind schedule.

rumor is they are disappointed on the turnouts of their tournaments. why they made the changes

check out their website.. www.mtrgaming.com
